Finally!!!

Well, after months of waiting, delays, more waiting, more delays, and even more waiting... We are sitting in the RDU airport waiting for the first leg in our three flight journey today to go and bring Petouchka home!!!!

The US Embassy gave the I600 approval and then scheduled her visa appointment for less than 2 weeks later. That appointment was yesterday and they approved her visa!! Yea!!

Now we need to pick up the visa and get our exit letter to let her leave the country - then we will bring her home!

Dennis and I are on our way to Haiti today but only have one way tickets. We will end up making flight arrangements to come home after our paperwork is in order.

Thank you all for supporting us through this. God is so good! We are finally approaching the end of this journey... and the beginning of another!

Such an exciting day!!  Here we come Petouchka!!! :-)

Love, Mommy and Daddy

US Embassy in Haiti

Well, let's play the "Good News, Bad News" game...

Bad News: Our I600 File had not arrived in Haiti prior to us leaving last week
Good News: We got ahold of the US Embassy by phone on Wednesday while in Haiti

Bad News: They do not have our file.... still
Good News: They said we could come and talk to someone on Friday (today)

Bad News: They did not give us an appointment
Good News: We were invited to come to a "walk in appointment" at 8 am

Good News: We found the US Embassy in Haiti
Bad News: We were 40 minutes late

Good News: It didn't matter that we were late
Bad News: They didn't open until 9 am

Good News: We were allowed back as one of the 1st groups of people at 9 am
Bad News: We still waited until 10:25 until we got to talk to someone

Good News: We got to talk to the same lady we have spoken with on the phone each time we call
Bad News: Still no files are in Haiti for us

Good News: "Supposedly" the paper she showed us marked with today's date indicates that our file is on it's way - as of today
Bad News: I've heard that before

Good News: She is personally working to expedite our case (since we have bugged her so much)
Bad News: It still may take "2 months"

Good News: She says she will have the file by next Friday
Bad News: I have trust issues

Hopefully we are done with the "Good News, Bad News" game and can move forward swiftly!  :)

More friends

Petouchka's birth mother and great aunt came to see her before we left.

On our way to Port au Price, we stopped in Simone so Dennis could see the hospital where I had worked after the earthquake and meet Dr. William and Beth.

A long day on the road but it has been good...!

Our visit to Dame Marie

Last night we stayed overnight at a hotel in Dame Marie, on the western coast of the southern Haitian peninsula. It was beautiful and relaxing. We slept over 9 hours. We ate conch for dinner and lobster for breakfast! We swam in the Caribbean Sea and visited friends of Yvrose's for fresh coconut water - from the coconut! We celebrated Petouchka's 10th birthday and she loved it!!! We all loved it! I will post pictures of the journey along the road as well... what a beautiful country!

The beautiful road to Dame Marie

A few hour drive but over the mountain was beautiful!
